This project was inspired by antique found in Cambodian Culture. I have designed four patterns based on three different pieces found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and create a cohesive collection.

Antique from Ancient Cambodia

 
 

East entrance to an early Khmer brick sanctuary

• Date: mid-7th century

• Significance: Iconography of architecture. The demon mask has both decorative and

protective function.

Demons on an Elephant

• Uses: Part of a larger composition depicting Buddha

• Date:late 12th–early 13th century

• Significance: The Goddess of earth and fertility and is often prayed by farmers and lady who want to get pregnant.

Ornament in the Shape of a Lotus Flower

• Uses: Decorative purpose

• Date: Date: ca. 12th century

• Significance: Lotus flower symbolizes enlightenment and purity

 

Icon Adaptation.

First, used Adobe Illustrator to trace out the main icon then applied colors on it. Then used photoshop to create the repeat pattern by align the icon in orders.
